SNOW SQUALL WARNING IN EFFECT FOR:

  • BRACEBRIDGE - GRAVENHURST
  • PORT CARLING - PORT SEVERN

A SNOW SQUALL BAND COMING OFF OF GEORGIAN BAY IS CURRENTLY AFFECTING AREAS SUCH AS GRAVENHURST AND BRACEBRIDGE. SNOWFALL RATES OF A FEW CENTIMETRES PER HOUR ARE LIKELY UNDER THIS BAND.

THIS SNOW SQUALL IS EXPECTED TO REMAIN FAIRLY STATIONARY THIS MORNING AND SLOWLY WEAKEN TOWARDS NOON.

LOCAL SNOWFALL AMOUNTS OF 10 TO 20 CENTIMETRES ARE LIKELY BY THE TIME THE SNOW SQUALL ACTIVITY TAPERS OFF LATER THIS MORNING.

SNOW SQUALLS CAUSE WEATHER CONDITIONS TO VARY CONSIDERABLY; CHANGES FROM CLEAR SKIES TO HEAVY SNOW WITHIN JUST A FEW KILOMETRES ARE COMMON. VISIBILITY WILL BE SUDDENLY REDUCED TO NEAR ZERO AT TIMES IN HEAVY SNOW AND BLOWING SNOW. TRAVEL IS EXPECTED TO BE HAZARDOUS DUE TO REDUCED VISIBILITY.

SNOW SQUALL WARNINGS ARE ISSUED WHEN BANDS OF SNOW FORM THAT PRODUCE INTENSE ACCUMULATING SNOW OR NEAR ZERO VISIBILITIES.
