SPECIAL WEATHER STATEMENT IN EFFECT FOR:

  • CHURCHILL FALLS AND VICINITY

EARLY SEASON SNOWMELT EXPECTED TODAY.

PRECIPITATION IS FORECAST TO CHANGE TO RAIN FOR MOST AREAS TODAY, WITH DAYTIME HIGHS REACHING A FEW DEGREES ABOVE ZERO. THE RAINFALL AND UNSEASONABLY WARM TEMPERATURES WILL CAUSE SIGNIFICANT SNOWMELT THROUGHOUT THE DAY AND COULD LEAD TO POOLING OF WATER. TEMPERATURES WILL THEN PLUNGE WELL BELOW FREEZING TONIGHT AS A COLD FRONT SWEEPS ACROSS THE REGION, CAUSING SLIPPERY CONDITIONS DUE TO FREEZING OF POOLED WATER, AS WELL AS BRINGING FLURRIES AND BRISK NORTHWESTERLY WINDS.
