Current Weather Warnings Issued In Manitoba For:

LERTS FOR: LYNN LAKE - LEAF RAPIDS - PUKATAWAGAN

WARNINGS

3:20 PM CDT FRIDAY 24 MARCH 2017
SNOWFALL WARNING IN EFFECT FOR:

  • LEAF RAPIDS
  • LYNN LAKE
  • PUKATAWAGAN

SNOWFALL, WITH TOTAL AMOUNTS OF 10 TO 15 CM IS EXPECTED.

A LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM MOVING INTO CENTRAL MANITOBA OVERNIGHT WILL BRING AN AREA OF SNOW, RAIN AND POSSIBLE FREEZING RAIN TO CENTRAL AND NORTHERN AREAS OF THE PROVINCE. SNOW, WITH A RISK OF FREEZING RAIN, WILL BEGIN BY SATURDAY MORNING MOVING NORTHEASTWARD THROUGH THE DAY. SOUTHERN AREAS OF THE WARNING WILL SEE THE SNOW BEGIN TO CHANGE TO RAIN BY MID DAY. SNOWFALL AMOUNTS WILL BE IN THE 10 TO 15 CM RANGE WITH SURROUNDING REGIONS NOT IN THE WARNING EXPECTING 5 TO 10 CM OF FRESH SNOW. THE SYSTEM WILL CONTINUE TO MOVE OUT OF NORTHERN MANITOBA ON SUNDAY WITH THE SNOW TAPERING TO FLURRIES AS IT MOVES OUT OF THE REGION.

RAPIDLY ACCUMULATING SNOW COULD MAKE TRAVEL DIFFICULT OVER SOME LOCATIONS. SURFACES SUCH AS HIGHWAYS, ROADS, WALKWAYS AND PARKING LOTS MAY BECOME DIFFICULT TO NAVIGATE DUE TO ACCUMULATING SNOW.
